Words that carried me through the dark
When healing from childhood trauma and adult abuse, finding the right words can feel like discovering an anchor in a raging storm. These inspirational quotes gave me courage, validated my pain, and helped me reclaim my inner peace. May they offer you the bravery and solace you need to take your next gentle step forward.
The biggest thing for me was the fact that I did not fully remember my childhood at all until I was in my fourties until then it was a big black hole where I only remembered bits and pieces. Those pieces were only times I spent with my grandparents Martha and Bruce. They were more like parents to me. They were the ones that showed me love, encouragement, and unwavering loyalty. When I lost them my whole world shattered and a part of me died with them. The ray of hope I had died and it did not return until the woman who raised me died as well. Once she died I knew my life would get better because she could no longer invade it with her negativity, abuse, and down right nasty behavior.
"Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough."
This mantra reminded me that surviving abuse and rebuilding my life wasn’t about being perfect, but about waking up each day with a quiet resolve to keep fighting for my healing.
Determination & courage
"Change the changeable, accept the unchangeable and remove the unacceptable."
Learning to walk away from toxicity was the hardest boundary I ever set. It gave me the freedom to accept the past I could not alter while refusing to tolerate mistreatment in my present.
Boundaries & inner peace
"If you want something you have never had, you have to do something you have never done."
Breaking cycles of generational and adult abuse required me to step into terrifying new territory: speaking up, seeking support, and believing that a peaceful future was truly possible.
Growth & transformation
"You are never alone, and your voice is worth reclaiming."
